Focus

By: Christina Romano

The University of Arizona Swimming and Diving programs are one of the best in the country. In 2008, both men's and women's swimming and diving brought home the national title, which makes them the first program to capture the title in both men's and women's swimming/diving in the same year. This picture captures the view a swimmer has from the starting block, right before they dive in to compete. The athlete's focus blurs everything around them except for the lane, knowing that they need to get the job done to bring home the title.

  1. I really like this picture and how you focused on the lane from a swimmer's point of view and blurred out the rest. This really captures the life of a swimmer because they typically have very grueling practice schedules and have to blur out everything in the outside world and focus on their lane which is basically their life in college. Also the thick black lane markers really stood out to me, but then disappeared - giving the photo some depth. I think it'd be cool if you would have taken the photo closer to the water, as if you were in the water.
