By: Courtney BelcastroVictory always tastes sweet, especially at Mckale Memorial Center, home of the U of A basketball and volleyball teams. The Men's Basketball team is nationally recognized because of the success of Lute Olsen and the tradition that has been built here. The Men's team has had 24 consecutive NCAA tournement appearances as well as 1 national championship. This picture shows the excitement of the packed McKale Center when the U of A basketball team wins a big game. The success of the team does not only reflect on the players, but the entire community that supports the Wildcats every year, which creates the one-of-a-kind atmosphere that exists at Mckale.
What an intense moment! All of the noise makers create awesome lines adding to the overall effect of excitement. There are not many things that people will go completely wild for, but somehow a sport like basketball unites students, alumni, children, and adults. In a way, these people are living through their team. Great picture!

I think that this is a fantastic photograph because of the color, composition, balance, and value of the image. I love how the colors are all hues of reds, yellows, and blacks mostly and how the image carries a sort of 'faded' look to it. The colors and the 'faded' composition complement each other well, each contributing to this aura of recreating the experience of being amidst the crowd. The image was very balanced, with continuous lines and many various small and large rectangles. I thought this made the photograph 'easy on the eyes,' making for a nice experience with your image. The value of the photograph was quite interesting, because it seems that the colors go from dark to light as the photograph progresses from bottom to top--toward the ceiling of the arena. You see the dark crowd in front of you, then comes the lighter-colored noise-makers darting about the image, and then the bright basketball court, the 'jumbotron', and the ceiling each radiate a light more intense than all the rest of the photo. It was a neat dark to light transition. I do not have much of a suggestion for what to change about the image. I would just be curious to see it in black and white, and maybe if you even highlighted only one major color that was at the basketball game (like your football image). Overall, excellent photo--absolutely loved it.
